On this Day, 16th April 1983, Welsh songstress Bonnie Tyler went to No.1 in the U.K. Album charts with Faster Than The Speed Of Night. Born Gaynor Hopkins, a former grocery shop worker, her husky distinctive voice first came to prominence with singles "Lost In France" and "More Than A Lover" whilst "Its A Heartache" reached No.4 in the U.K. Charts and No.3 in the US charts. In the Eighties with the help of Meatloaf producer Jim Steinman she adopted a rockier sound with Faster Than The Speed Of Night becoming a worldwide hit.
