On this Day, 6th May 1978, the soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever started an 18-week run at No.1 in the U.K. Album charts. The album, which featured seven Bee Gees song went on to sell over 30 million copies and featured the keyboard skills of the Cardiff-born Blue Weaver and drummer Dennis Bryon.
Both musicians were members of the Cardiff band Amen Corner and became an integral part of the Bee Gees recording and touring bands.
After Amen Corner, Weaver replaced Rick Wakeman in the Strawbs, with Wakeman leaving to join Yes, then touring with Mott the Hoople whilst also lending his considerable talents to the likes of Lou Reed, Barbara Streisand and the Pet Shop Boys. Bryon went on to co-produce Robin Gibbs's 1983 album, How Old Are You ? and released an autobiography about his years with the Bee Gees in 2015, called You Should Be Dancing: My Life with the Bee Gees
