On this day, 8 March 2001, Welsh rockers Manic Street Preachers played Cardiff Coal Exchange as part of their Know Your Enemy tour.

Incensed by Anne Robinson's attack on the Welsh on BBC's Room 101 the week before, Nicky Wire used the opportunity to shout: 'Who does Anne Robinson think she is? She's a f**king dog!' The crowd screamed their approval; and a chorus of 'F*ck Anne Robinson' rang through the Coal Exchange.

The gig featured a new song 'Let Robeson Sing', a eulogy to Paul Robeson, the celebrated American singer, civil rights activist and political outcast with the group chiming, 'Sing it loud / Sing it proud / I will be heard / I will be found' over a recording of Robeson's wonderful soulful baritone.
